                                                                                                         Self-Assignment Essay

    This semester, I have learned a lot in my English 1100 class. I learned what I’m very strong in, and learned what I have to develop more.

The synthesis essay assignment helped me grow by organizing my ideas and creating clearer thesis statements.

     Before I was in this class, I couldn’t write an essay that made sense. I was just writing to write because I didn’t know how to write a college-level essay that is professional, but after this semester, I had to change how I wrote my essays, and I really grew as a writer in writing more professionally. My strengths were that I had ideas.

     Challenges I faced were putting too many ideas on the page, which made it confusing for readers to know what the topic is, and for readers to read and know what I’m trying to explain or talk about, as well as grammar. Grammar is a big struggle I have that I have gotten better at after taking this class this semester. I have seen how my grammar has gotten better. Not only that, but I am also incorporating my idea to connect with my essay.

    I have grown from writing essays that make no sense to creating stories that connect readers physically and emotionally.  I learned how to write a 5 to 7-page synthesis essay, which I have never done before. My future goal is to keep these skills and use them in the future, but to use them as a biomedical engineer, and use them if I ever decide to write a novel.
